Christopher Martin Williams was born April 24 th , 1963 in Portland Oregon to the union of Henry Williams of Detroit Michigan and Brenda Jean White of Portland Oregon. Christopher was raised in Portland
Oregon. He accepted Christ at a young age, he loved to attend church to play drums for the lord. Chris attended John Adams High School before venturing off to answer his true calling which was music.
Christopher was naturally musically inclined and had an undying love for music that included singing, writing music, playing a plethora of
instruments, performing in front of live audiences and recording music in the studio. Christopher was known by his stage name CHEZARAY and was a well-know prominent singer and musician for the street music band (SMB) and his current band the Gentlemen of Leisure. He loved what he called a good ole jam session. Over the years Christopher
traveled the world sharing his love of music with anyone who would
listen. If you were around Chris long enough you had to hear about his favorite artists who made what he called real music and you had to
listen to Cameo at least 100 times. Chris had the privilege to travel with Cameo as his opening act in the 1990’s.
Some would argue that Christopher missed his calling as a comedian
because whenever he was around, he would keep everyone laughing. Christopher had a big personality and loved to laugh and tell jokes. He had no regards for people’s feelings or a filter when he was cracking jokes on you or with you but you were guaranteed to laugh at his
wittiness and humor. Christopher could have also been a lawyer because he was always debating or trying to prove his point about something and you could not tell him anything if he believed he was right. Christoper was also known for being what he called a hardcore stepper in the fashion department. Christopher loved to get dressed up in suits or button ups with matching hats and shoes and sometimes he would throw on some shades and you could not tell him he was not the best dressed person in the room. He also loved cologne and smelling good. Cooking was also one of Christopher’s favorite things to do. He would always joke and tell people he was going to stuff groceries down his neck when he was preparing one of his famous meals. He was adamant that he could cook or burn as he called it better than everyone and swore up and down that he taught everyone everything they know about cooking. Chris also loved sports and you could catch him parked in front of the TV watching a game of football or basketball and he would call you during the
commercial breaks to talk smack. He was truly a fun, loving man who loved his family, laughter, music, and having a good time.
Christopher is proceeded in death by his parents Henry Williams and Brenda Jean White and his sister Gwen Hunt. Christpoher is survived by his siblings Debra Hunt of Seattle WA, Regina Hunt of Portland OR, Selina Hunt of Portland OR, Randall Hunt of Portland, OR and
Vernetta Eichinger (Jason) of Seattle WA. Christopher enjoyed the last decade of his life with his longtime love Estralita Anderson who was very near and dear to his heart. Christopher leaves his six beloved children Christin L Williams McCool, Dr. Ceirra M Williams, Angelica A Logan, Chezaray A Sampson, Christopher M Williams Jr, and Dominique L Williams of Portland OR and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
