Cheryl Denise Palmore, a vibrant soul with a heart of gold, departed this life on November 11, 2024, (11,11) at the age of 62. Born on July 13, 1962, to Christine Brown Palmore and Walter James Palmore Sr., Cheryl’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Cheryl moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1971, where she attended Kennedy Elementary School and graduated from John Adams High School in 1979. After high school, she began her career as a factory machine operator, eventually working as a housekeeping manager at Park Lane Suites for several years. Later, Cheryl found her calling as a sponsor and advocate for women in N.A. recovery, dedicating her life to uplifting others and making a meaningful impact in her community.
A self-proclaimed “little missionary,” Cheryl found joy in visiting nursing homes, bringing flowers, and sharing her radiant spirit. Her laugh was contagious, her compassion boundless, and her loyalty unwavering—she truly put the L in loyalty. Cheryl’s adventurous spirit and love for life shone through in every moment, as she faced life's challenges with grace, courage, and an unshakable faith in God.
Cheryl’s culinary talents were inherited from her beloved mother, and she delighted in cooking meals that brought people together. She served as a devoted matriarch to our family. She was always praying for her children and writing heartfelt prayers in her prayer box for her loved ones.
Cheryl overcame many obstacles in her life, including a victorious battle with cancer. Though God called her home before she could share her testimony, her legacy of strength and love continues to inspire all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine and Walter Palmore, and her brothers Walker Palmore and James Palmore.
Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by her partner, Frederick Kaseem Lavert; her sisters, Elizabeth West Palmore (OR), Patricia Pough (FL), Gloria Bryant (FL), Brenda Mitchell (FL), Rev. Gwendolyn Hansberry (FL), Leah Key (OR), Dakota (Keave) Rice (WA), and Devon Palmore-Archer (WA); her brothers, Pacino Palmore (WA), Gabriel Palmore (WA), and Rodriguez Palmore (OR); her children, Dominique Palmore (OR), Dennishea Palmore Lambert (OR), Michael Palmore (OR), and Theodis Palmore (OR); her grandchildren, Brooklyn, Zion, Jeremiah, Dion, Kymiah, and Lakiah; her great-grandchildren, Laylah, Kilo, and Milo; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
To be in Cheryl’s presence was to feel loved, to laugh freely, and to be uplifted. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those she touched. Though her journey on earth has ended, Cheryl’s light shines on, guiding and comforting her loved ones.
May she rest in eternal peace.
