Chantel Therese Downs, of Portland, Oregon, tragically passed away at age 36 as the result of a hit and run accident on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at approximately 9:30pm. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, and niece.
Chantel was born on April 30, 1983 in Westland, Michgan. She resided there until the age of seven, at which time she moved with her family to Littleton, Colorado. While attending school in Colorado, she pursued her passion for color guard, painting and photography, and also was a survivor of the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999.
Chantel was a beautiful, selfless, courageous, and fiercely independent young woman who really knew how to Love and Live Life to the Fullest. Chantel, Emily and her beloved dog Indie, enjoyed a life of inspiration and adventure throughout the state of Oregon. She had a passion for the arts, culture, and world travel, and was always quick to give others a helping hand when needed. During her free time, she volunteered with several charities and other worthy causes.
She touched the lives of many and left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough the know her. She will be sadly missed.
Chantel is survived by her parents Bill Downs and Darlene Clarry, her stepfather Andrew Clarry, her stepmother Christine Downs, brothers Andrew, Logan, and Collin Clarry, grandmothers Shirley Downs (Steve) Szomolyai and Patricia (Frank) Aquino, Aunts Debbie (Mario) D'Agostino and Debbie (Nick) Pizzo; Uncles Tom (Lulu) Downs, Fred (Debbie) Downs; her girlfriend Emily Starkey, and her loving nieces and nephews.
