Cedric Fay Love Sr.

Cedric (GP) was born Cedric Fay Love. He was born August 12, 1959, to Carrie Mae Love and James Bridgford. Cedric was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi and moved to Portland as a young boy with his mother.

While he was born Cedric, most called him Ced and he often referred to himself as “Big Ced.” Cedric graduated from Adams high school in 1978. Early in life Cedric had a handsome son and a beautiful daughter that are now prospering that he loved and cared for deeply.

Cedric lived in Portland, OR for part of his adult life before moving up north to Washington where he made Tacoma, Renton, Kent, Auburn, and Seattle his homes since 1992.

As the oldest child Cedric was loving, caring, and protective of his siblings. Growing up Cedric could often be found being competitive and showcasing his athletic abilities by playing sports especially basketball and football.

Cedric dedicated many of his adult years to the labor industry that allowed him to work with his hands; he took great pride in his work as a welder that he did for many years. If you knew Cedric, you know that he was a lover of music; he loved to listen to his favorite tunes on full blast.

Cedric had a special place in his heart for his “Buddies” friends and hanging out with and creating memories. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing, and riding his bike.

If you needed a laughing partner, it wasn’t unheard of for Ced to crack jokes which were usually corny but none the less they made you laugh anyhow.

Cedric had a special love and care for dogs especially his dog “Little Man”; you would have believed that Little Man was Ced’s child as he catered to his every need.

Cedric is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Mae Love; brother, Wesley Love; and dog “Little Man.”

He is survived by his two children, Cedric Fay Love III (son) and Cedaejia Love (daughter); and five grandchildren. Cedric is also survived by five siblings, Rosalind Y. Love Ernst (sister), Alonzo Smith (brother), Keith Smith (brother), Carrie Love Taylor (sister), and Ronald Barrow Jr (brother). He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
