Carmelita Laverne Weatheroy, age 72 passed away in Portland, Or on January 6th, 2026. Born November 4th, 1953 in Seattle, WA to Dotty Jewel Weatheroy and George Winston Weatheroy. Known as 'Lita', she will be remembered by her vibrant energy and light that magnetized everyone around her. Representing herself as the Queen she was sure to run the show! Lita is survived by Nykisha Scott (daughter), Marshall Parish (son), following grandchildren Sydne Scott, Jewel Knox, Erica Scardino, Azariah Smith, Keyara-Lyn Scardino and Kingstyn Green.
Lita was the oldest child in her family of 8, following are her siblings Bonita 'Gayle' Pino, George Winston Weatheroy Jr., Paul Gregory Weatheroy, Valerie Broken Berry, & Elle 'Michelle' Weatheroy; a huge reason she was so strong. She was the leader behind her parents and was always ready to watch the next in kin flourish and succeed boundaries while rooting for them along the way.
Proud of her roots and upbringing Camelita was the billboard for those around her, showing strength in all circumstances and always standing her ground. Eager to share her families success and achievements is a way she expressed how close her family was to her heart. The Queen loved lavish things in life and worked hard to set a foundation of confidence, strength, and worth in her loved ones. Demanding respect while showing respect, she instilled important values within us.
Particular is an understatement when it came to what Carmelita provided to herself in this life. She loved food, her appearance (wigs), and having that Bling Bling! She emphasized how important she is, and she always will be. Lita held many titles, one being Nana. If she could help her grand babies grow, she would do her best to do what they needed.
A pillar of strength, Lita will remain in our hearts, in our memories, and in the way we navigate this world. Her sparkle is imprinted on many of us. May we carry her legacy through our lives by never settling for less.
