Betty J. Booker

Betty Jean Booker was born July 28, 1931, in Portland, Oregon to Robert Dudley Bird Jr. and Mary Alice Jones Bird. She went to sleep peacefully on September 10, 2024. She was the second of ten children.

Betty attended Elliot Grade School, Holladay Elementary School and Girls Polytechnic High School and earned her Certificate of Equivalency. Her favorite past times were shopping, dancing, primping in the mirror and looking good.

She met her husband Oscar Booker Jr. (Junior) in 1952. They were married on February 21, 1953.

Betty was an amazing homemaker who loved to cook and garden. She especially loved caring for her roses. In addition to taking care of her family, she was owner and operator of Oscran Janitorial Service with her husband Junior and their son Randy.

Betty loved going to Multnomah Kennel Club and Portland Meadows to bet on the dogs and horses. She coordinated group bus trips to Reno, Nevada. In addition, she traveled with Junior to Reno, Las Vegas, Spirit Mountain and other casinos in the northwest. She could be found at the Blackjack table or playing bingo. They went on several cruises including stops in the Bahamas, Barbados, and Jamaica.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Booker Jr.; father, Robert Dudley Bird Jr.; mother, Mary Alice Jones Bird; sisters, Margaret Hickman and Patricia Allen; brothers, Robert Bird III., Walter Bird, and James Bird; and daughter-in-law, Chrystal Booker.

Betty is survived by her children, Sandra Gabner, Sharon Lincoln (Eddie), Judy Booker, Lindsay Booker, Randy Booker, and Tammy Latin (Zeno); 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends.
