Bennie Avington was born to Mary L. Scott and Johnny Scott Sr. On January 27, 1950, in Dallas, Texas.
Bennie grew up in Portland, Oregon, with her 4 siblings; sisters, Debraoh, Eleanor, and Mary; brother, Johnny Jr. Bennie attended Peninsula Elementary School. While she attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School where she was a cheerleader; that’s where she started learning her great customer service skills that she has used every day since.
Bennie met and married James Avington and to that union they were blessed with 3 amazing children, Jamie, Stephanie and James Jr. She had a wonderful career in customer service, and she was always so kind and helped anyone whenever she could. In her down time, she would go feed the homeless. Her favorite time was spending it with everyone just laughing, cooking and having a great time. The best times were with her grandkids going to parks and taking them to see downtown Portland to the Saturday Market and loved snuggling with her grandkids and watching movies together. One of Bennies past times was playing dominoes with family and friends and she was good at it too.
Bennie was blessed to have so many people in her life that loved her. Her faith and her belief in God was amazing and she knew her bible!
Left to morn her; 2 sisters, Deborah Perez and Eleanor Scott; brother, Johnny Scott Jr, her children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren along with a host of many family and friends.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Mary L. Scott; father, Johnny Scott Sr.; sister, Mary Yvonne Scott.
