Artie Louise Lacey

Artie Yolanda Louise Lacey was born on April 25, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to the late Willie and Betsy Lacey. Los Angeles, California is where she attended most of her schooling. Graduating from Ralph Bunche High School and becoming the first African American cheerleader there.

During her time in California, Artie fell in love and got married. To that union was born two boys, Keith Vashon Manning (Compton) and Chantae Davon Manning (Oakland). December of 1984 she relocated from California to Portland, Oregon to care for her ailing mother. In Early 1985 Artie met Lumb Blake who became her life partner. To that union she gave birth to her only girl, Sade Nicole Blake (Portland). 3 Bonus children were included as well Tyree, Sheldon and Nique. Unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances allowed her to raise Sherri, Latanya and Delaine as her own for their full lives thus extending her mothering to many.

While in Portland, she furthered her education by completing and receiving her A.B.O and her N.C.L.E.C to become a certified Optician. Artie worked in that field for the remaining of her lifetime career. She worked over 25 years at Costco Optical and her last employment was with Eye Health NW prior to her becoming ill.

Artie loved traveling and the Oregon Coast was a frequent for her and the grandkids to escape reality and enjoy each other. She lived her life to the fullest and didn’t regret one day. Family was everything to Artie and remained a pillar until her last days. If she could tell you anything, it would be, “ Do your best to be your best, and if you do that, forget the rest!”.

Preceding her in Death: Her Grandmother (Josie Fredricks), Mother (Betsy); Father (Willie Sr.); Sisters (Shirley, Josie); Brothers (Andre, Leo, Benny, Squeaky).

She leaves to cherish her memories: Lumb Blake (Spouse); Daughter Sade Blake, Sons Keith Manning (Krissy), Chantae Manning; bonus children Sherri Patterson, Latanya Lacey (Kelly), Delaine Jones, Tyree Blake (Sonya), Sheldon Blake, Lealonni Goods (Amin). Sister-Alzena McGull; Sisters-In-Christ Jean, Debbie, and Pat of LA County, Candace Cage (Portland), Mrs. Peaches of Orlando Florida. Brothers- Willie Jr., Gregory, Robert, Michael, Larry, James (all of Oregon). 27 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Artie will be greatly Missed!
