Arthur Lee Palmer was born on June 16, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the union of Clarence Palmer and Catherine Byrd (Robinson). Arthur moved to Portland, Oregon where he later met his wife, Mae Pearl Palmer. He worked at a car wash for a short time and Esco Corporation where he was forced into retirement after getting hurt on the job.
Arthur Lee Palmer became a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ under Bishop J.C.Foster where he became a deacon. Later, he went to Cornerstone Community Church of God in Christ under Pastor B.E. Johnson where he continued to serve and work for the Lord.
Deacon Palmer enjoyed the great outdoors, especially fishing on Sauvie Island and St.Paul in Oregon. He especially enjoyed fishing for crappies, blue gills, and catfish. He and his wife mother Palmer would compete on who could catch more fish than the other (just for fun).
Deacon Palmer loved to help people and would give you the shirt off his back. Deacon Palmer would volunteer his landscaping skills to Bishop J.C. Foster and Mother Foster at no charge. Arthur would occasionally leave a couple of 12 pack cases of soda pop at the residence out of the kindness of his heart.
Preceding Arthur in death was his father, Clarence Palmer; mother, Catherine Bryd (Robinson); daughter, Annette Rucker; sister, Mary Houston; foster mother, Annie Bell Daniels; and foster sister, Pattie Johnson.
Deacon Palmer leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mae Pearl Palmer; daughter, Anjanette Palmer; son, Ramsey Kalo Palmer (Sheila); foster sisters, Helen Sheppard, Melline Robinson, Bertha Sparks, and Erma Green; grandchildren, Jaqualah Beard, Fatima Diomande, Sandrisha Palmer, Derrick Nash, Alyssa Rucker, and T.J. Rucker; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
