Anita Johnson Obituary

Anita L. Johnson, 76, of Ridgefield, WA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 6, surrounded by her loving family.

Anita was born in Macon, GA on February 3, 1948, to Willie and Louise Lewis. She had one older sibling John Reid Jr. She attended Grant High School and graduated in 1966. Anita went on to earn an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Portland Community College.

Anita married Alvin Johnson in 1973, they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Together they raised three children, Bobbie, Brian, and Heather, who were the pride and joy of Anita’s life. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first.

Anita worked as an LPN at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital. She enjoyed caring for others and worked at CDM providing in home care to the elderly and people with disabilities. She also held positions in customer service, hospitality, and sales when she ran a retail booth at a local antique mall. Anita received several accolades and customer service awards during her career.

Anita enjoyed traveling especially to the beach, shopping, going to the movies, arts and crafts, interior decorating, and spending time with her family and friends. She attended Mt. Olivet Baptist during her childhood and returned in 1988. She served on the Doorkeepers Ministry as an usher at Mt. Olivet for several decades.

Anita will be remembered for her great smile, sense of humor, and love for serving others. She was a very giving individual that loved the Lord. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

Anita leaves behind her husband Alvin Johnson, children Brian (Sarah Emmerman) Johnson and Heather (Todd) Nelson; her grandchildren, Robert Kinney, Anthony (Maritza Estrada) Johnson, Terrall Quigley, Malaika Quigley, Noah Johnson, Artemus “JD” Davis, Nathanael (Chelcie Lucas) Davis, Jeshaiah Davis, Micaiah (Trevor Osborn) Davis, Jairus (Darlene) Davis, Nicholas Nelson, and Nyah Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Raiden Kinney, Summer Kinney, Damien Davis, Kyah Johnson, and Julius Johnson. Anita was preceded in death by daughter Bobbie Davis, her mother Louise Lewis, and brother John Reid, Jr. She is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Our family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support we have received during this time of sorrow. We thank God for the blessing of your friendship and the comfort of your presence as we mourn the loss of our beloved wife/mother/grandmother. Your faith and compassion have been a source of strength for us. We are especially grateful to the nurses at Legacy Salmon Creek ICU, PeaceHealth Southwest Hospice, and Taunya Golden for their care and compassion. May God's peace be with you all as we find solace in His promise of eternal life.
