Anita Goodwin Obituary

IN HONOR AND LOVING MEMORY OF ANITA LOUISE GOODWIN

Anita transitioned to be with the Lord on October 28, 2022, while her loving family was by her side.

Anita Louise Woods was born on December 2, 1939, at Breckinridge Hospital in Austin, Texas to the union of Ezell and Ernestine Woods.

Anita grew up in Austin, Texas alongside her one and only brother Harold Gene. Some may know her as Nita, but her family and friends in Texas know her as “Lil Sista”.

Anita, the matriarch of the family was high spirited and blessed to have lived a full and zestful life for just shy of 83 years.

Anita attended Anderson High School in Austin where she was a majorette who loved to dance. Being an AHS alumni she returned each year to every class reunion until she was unable to attend.

After high school she married her sweetheart Walter Davis, and they had 4 children, (Derwin) Walter, Dennis, Daryl, and Delethia. They then migrated to Northern California where she lived most of her life. Years later they divorced, and she met Herbert Frisco, with whom she had her last daughter, Darnika.

After years of living in San Jose, Anita met James Goodwin who she married and the two decided to move to Tacoma, Washington.

Mom was very hospitable, and she enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Whether you were related by blood or not, everyone she met became a part of her family. Her doors were always open to anyone. She enjoyed traveling to see family, camping, the beach, long drives and BBQing. Mom was also very competitive; she played cards, dominoes and loved the slots. They were her niche. She had a knack for winning… and would always give a lil giggle and smile if you asked, “if she’d won”.

Anita was not one to bite her tongue, she was going to say what she had to, but it was always with love!

Anita, mom, Lil Sista, GG, and grandma is preceded in death by her parents, Ernestine and Ezell, and her sons, Walter and Darryl.

Anita is survived by her brother, Harold Gene; children, Dennis, Delethia, Darnika; son-in-law, Ulric; 3 stepchildren; her beloved dog, Pickles; nephews, Eric and Ronnie; grandchildren, Walter Jr, Wakisha, Christine, Nicholas, Andre, Nicole, Brianna, Tanya, Irvin, Terrell, Brittany, Jade, Aaron, Isaiah, Shanell, Jana, and Jasmine; and a host of great grandchildren who will miss her dearly!
