Allean Virginia Gilmore was born August 4th, 1931 to Lillie Bell Gilmore in Prichard, Alabama. She and her family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon in the late 1940’s. Allean attended and graduated from Klamath Union High School.
She relocated to Portland in the mid-fifties residing with the Pastor & First Lady of Williams Temple COGIC where she accepted Christ at an early age.
Allean was always gainfully employed. First at Bop City records, along with various women’s clothing stores, like Hartfield’s, Grayson’s, Lerners, and ultimately infamous Zukors where she was a window decorator and you would always catch her dressed to the nine. She was Ms. Boujee before Boujee was a real word. In other word, luxurious and certainly of a higher class.
Allean went on to work for the State of Oregon as a case manager helping others where she retired after 27 years. At the time of her death, Allean was a member and Mother of New Zion Revival Church of Portland, Oregon.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Stephania Hurst; sons, Steven (Sandra) Griffith and Willie (Peggie) Hurst; brother, Calvin Gilmore; grandchildren, Sharhonda McCauley, Jazzminn (Joshua) Bokish, Willie Hurst III, Maya Griffith, Jocelyn Griffith, Keyaria Rentie; and great-grandchildren, Dorian Neira, Kadence Hurst, and Jayden Ransom, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gram, we love you because of the true love and kindness you showed us. Your giving heart and quiet strength, your constant support that made us all feel special. A Great Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Godmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend that knew how to make us all laugh. You will be missed greatly.
