Adolph Evans Sr.

Adolph “Jack” Evans, Sr was born on Sept 18, 1941 in Coupland, Texas.  In 1964 Adolph moved to Portland, Oregon and was an influential member of his community for over 50 years, until his death on November 21, 2018.

“Jack” as he was affectionately called by his relatives, was raised by his grandmother Amy. His early years were spent on a farm in Coupland after which he moved to Austin.  He would often speak of how he’s been working since the age of 3. This would prove beneficial in his adult life as he later owned two successful businesses. Adolph became part owner of Baldwin Sanitation Service and then sole owner of Salt and Pepper Construction Company.

Adolph was a great domino player, lover of down home blues music, fisherman and devoted Portland Trail Blazer fan, he lived life to the fullest.  One of his greatest memories being able to be present when the Blazers won the Championship in 1977. He was a passionate storyteller who loved to converse and engage with people from all backgrounds.  Adolph loved to barbeque and share his passion for cooking with friends and family by inviting them into his home for a meal.

Adolph’s infectious smile and charming grin will surely be missed.  He loved to make people laugh and have a good time. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Adolph was preceded in death by his brother Larry (aka LB).  

Adolph leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Sharon, sister Dorothy Thompson (Lloyd), daughter Dorothy Evans-Perkins (Michael), son Adolph Evans Jr. (Carolyn), son Aaron Evans, step daughters Sheila Thrower (Anthony), Shelly Sheilds, ten grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
