Yvonne Williams was born to Leanna Thompson and John Thompson, on August 5, 1950 in Winnfield, Louisiana. In 1953, Leanna relocated to Seattle and bought her 3 children with her, Vera, Yvonne and Tommy. Yvonne went on to graduate from Garfield High School in 1968 and continued her education with Washington State University. She graduated in 1972 with a BA in Education.
After she graduated, she relocated to Portland where she gained employment with Portland Public Schools. She retired from that school district after 34 years of dedicated service.
She was an active member of Alpha Sorority, inc. since her college days. She joined and remained a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church here in Portland.
On June 29, 1983, Yvonne married Louis B.Williams Jr. They were married for over 36 years. They had one son, Louis B. Williams lll and a daughter, Shelby Lynne Williams. She strived to instill respect, love and kindness in her children whom she adored immensely.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy her husband, Louis B. Williams Jr. and her children Louis B. Williams lll and Shelby Lynne Williams; Her Grand Children LaMar Williams and Tyrique Williams. Three sisters, Vera Jenkins, Dorothy Vaughn, and Elaine Calloway; two brothers Marion Jones and Michael Thompson, niece brittni Thompson and nephew Kyle Thompson along with many more beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Tommy Thompson, father Emanuel Jones, and her beloved mother Leanna Jones.
