Ronald Webb Obituary

Ronald Olandus Webb was born to Olandus and Ella Webb on May 20, 1938 in Portland, Oregon, joining big brother Edward. He was the second of three children.

The Webb family attended Bethel AME church and Ron joined at a young age. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1956, Ron joined the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served until being Honorably Discharged.

Ron married JoAnn Goodspeed in 1963 and to this union, two children were born; Ronald Webb and Alisa Webb. Ron later married Beverly Christian in 1979 and her two sons Damon Newcomb and Kelly Pierce joined the family.

For over 16 years, Ron was a Floor Director with KOIN.  Ron loved the outdoors and was an avid cyclist until his health prevented him from riding.  Ron loved people and loved to talk!!!  In his late 60’s Ron joined Toastmasters.  Soon he was speaking at many events and forums around the Portland Area.

One of Ron’s passions was the National Association of Black Veterans. He was committed to the group and enjoyed doing whatever he could to help veterans. Ron was also the social butterfly of Rosemont Court. He met no strangers. Ron often talked about how much he loved the residents and had rekindled friendships with people he had not been in contact with for years.

Ron’s other passion were his 3 granddaughters, of who he was very proud! He always smiled when talking about them! One of the biggest decisions in life is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior… Ron did that!!! Ron was previously a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and at the time of his passing, Ron was attending Fourth Plain Baptist Church.

Ronald Olandus Webb is survived by his children; Ronnie Webb of Chicago, Illinois; Lisa Griffin of Portland, Oregon; stepsons Damon Newcomb and Kelly Pierce, both of Portland, Oregon; granddaughters Katriska Wilson son in law Jay of Sacramento, California, Kiante Holmes Sin in law Marlon and Kalisha Griffin, both of Portland, Oregon, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Thomas Griffin, extended Griffin and Newcomb family and friends.  Preceding Ron in death were parents Olandus and Ella, brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Nuita Webb, sister and brother-in- law, Arnetta and Leodis McDaniel.
