Robert Anders Kronquist was born on August 27, 1930 in Portland, Oregon to Joel and Tillie Kronquist. Bob grew fishing Oregon’s backwaters, climbing mountains and developing lifelong friendships. He graduated Benson Polytechnic High school in 1949. While at Benson he enlisted in the Oregon National Guard and served with honor until he was discharged as a master sergeant in 1958. During that time he also played semi-pro baseball, likely for peanuts and beer.
Bob’s life changed for the better when he met the love of his life, Shirley Ryan. They were married in 1957 and settled in Shirley’s home town of Lake Oswego where they lived ever since. Bob worked for Western Electric for over 40 years as a quality control auditor. In that role he crisscrossed Oregon countless times. It was impossible to find a town that Bob had not been to. Ione? Sodaville? Haymaker? He’d seen them all.
Bob’s “second career” began in 1992 when he was knighted as a Royal Rosarian under the rose Honor. Bob and Shirley so enjoyed their Rosarian extended family and attended too many events to count. Bob proudly participated in his very last Grand Floral Parade this past June.
When Bob and Shirley met a friend they kept them forever. They entertained with warmth and grace in Lake Oswego and in their Cannon Beach cabin for six decades. Bob was charming, caring and involved and a master at the grill. Anyone who knew Bob will keep his grin in their heart forever.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife Shirley, son Mark Kronquist and daughter Lois Moll (Martin) and grandchildren Ian Kronquist, Elise Kronquist, Emily Moll and Ryan Moll and his brother in law Robert Ryan (Patti).
