Robert Harvey Chinn was born in Forest, Mississippi on May 15, 1938 to Charles Uther Chinn and Minnie Eva Harvey. His family came to Portland, Oregon when he was 8 years old. Robert attended Jefferson High School up until his Junior year when he joined the Military.
He joined the Army in the 111.10 Light Weapons Infantry, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. Robert also served in the National Guard as Private E-2, Company G. 162nd Infantry. He worked for Coast Janitorial Service for a number of years and the Local #16 Sheet Metal for 32+ years. Robert was one of the first Black Sheet Metal Workers in Oregon, until he retired in 2001.
Robert loved hunting and fishing. He was always at ease on the lake.
He met Bonnie at an Elk's dance on June 17, 1997 and they were married June 27, 1998. Bob and Bonnie Chinn spent 21 precious years together, in which he affectionately called her "Baby."
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Uther Chinn and Minnie Eva Chinn; brother, Charles Chinn; sister, Linda Scott, as well as his daughter, Donna Suzzete Chinn.
Left to cherish the memory of Robert is his wife, Bonnie J. Chinn; son, Robert F. Chinn; daughter, Jessica Chinn; neice, Collette Bennett; nephew, Jason Scott; grandchildren, Alexis, Sydnee, Nevaeh, Samir, August, Kendra, and a host of cousins, extended family and many friends. He will be sincerely missed.
