Richard Joe Patterson

Richard Joe Patterson Sr AKA Big Ricky was born on January 21, 1960, to Joe Henry and Ruby Lee Patterson on Fort Lewis Army base in Tacoma, Washington. They later moved to Portland, Oregon in the late 60’s. Ricky attended Ockley Green, Woodlawn, and later graduated from Adams High School in 1978. In 1982, Ricky had his first son with Kim Woods; Ricky Joe Patterson, Jr.

He enjoyed Jazz music, cooking and was well known for his fashion; Ricky did not play about his suits matching his Stacy Adams. Ricky began to work for Swiss Cleaners and worked there for over 15 years before he became very ill. In 2000,  Ricky had his second son with Kim Vernon. They named him Joe’Von Patterson
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Henry and Ruby Lee Patterson; brother, Randy Joe Patterson Sr; and Nieces, Michelle & Au’Brianna Harper & Cierra Lynn Patterson.
He is survived by Matriarch aunt, Tommy Wilson and the Wilson family; sons, Ricky Joe Patterson Jr,  Joe’Von Patterson and step son Duprie Smith of Portland, Oregon; Grandchildren, Jaden and Mariana; Sisters, Brenda Lynn, Debra, & Pamela Patterson; Nephews, Nathan, Randy Jr, Lawon, and Randy 3rd; Nieces, Shauntia, Rawshetta, Nacole and Soroya.
