Raydell Strothers Denton

Raydell Lampkin was born in Portland, Oregon on July 22, 1956 to proud parents Ruth B. Robertson and Ray Lampkin Sr. Raydell was known for her love of family. If you had a problem or issue you knew you could share it with her and it would be just between the two of you.

Raydell went to Sitton Elementary School and Columbia  High School. Raydell worked many jobs but found her place as a Room Service Manager at the Monaco Hotel. She worked there for 25 years before retiring in 2014 to become a dedicated housewife.

Raydell was a loving mother of three precious children, Kenny Ray McDonald, Taeyonia Lampkin and Kelton Lampkin. She took pride in her children and was a steady encourager for them to do the right thing. In her later years she was elated to be the proud grandmother of three: Ken’Niyah McDonald, Skylar Mays and Oliver Kaj Lampkin

Together they lived a prosperous life centered on Christ, family, education and hard work.  Only her transition on April 30, 2019 could separate the two of them.

Raydell was the baby girl of seven siblings. Donnie Lampkin, Ray “Lightning” Lampkin Jr., Doris Lampkin (deceased), Minnie Lampkin Solomon, Raymond Lampkin, Jerome Robertson and Jody Robertson. Raydell’s stepdaughter Shiba Niyonnda and sister in laws were Julie Elaine Pickens and Cecelia Pritchard.

During her lifetime she loved many things one of her favorite was her dog “Hector” He simply didn’t know he was an animal.  She also was a sharp dresser, a constant shopper leaving many clothes in her closet with tags on them because she never wore them.

Raydell leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Charles Strothers Denton, Portland, Oregon; three children, Kenny Ray McDonald, Taeyonia Lampkin and Kelton Lampkin, Portland, Oregon; brothers, Donnie Lampkin, Ray “Lightning” Lampkin (Versa Lampkin), Raymond Lampkin, Jerome Robertson (Jackie Robertson) and Jody Robertson (Diane Robertson) Portland, Oregon; Sister, Minnie Lampkin Solomon, Dallas , Texas, her three grandchildren, step children and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
