Pastor Keith Hunter Obituary

On November 10, 1954, the breath of GOD blew upon the earth, and became a living soul.  As GOD exhaled, HE gave life to the son of the late Wilbert &

Barbara Hunter.

Andrew Keith Hunter was born in Louisville, KY. His calling and ministry in music started at the young age of 16, as the young adult choir director at Howard Chapel Baptist Church, (New Albany, Indiana). His position as youth director was one of many bricks to build a foundation to a career and legacy for us all.

Pastor Hunter received his diploma from  Dupont Manuel High School. He

furthered his education in studying vocal music under Professor Carl Smith at Kentucky State University, (Frankfort, KY), He also later attended Sullivan College, (Louisville, KY), where he received his associates degree in travel and marketing, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Pastor Hunter announced his call into the ministry and obtained his license to preach the gospel under the late Rev. Arthur Smith, Pastor of Portland Memorial Baptist Church, (Louisville, KY). He later received his certificate of ordination in ministry under Rev. Walter Malone, Pastor of Canaan Christian Church, (Louisville, KY). One of the most important gospel artist to come out of

Louisville, KY. He was an exemplary song writer, having written and published over 50 songs, such as “GOD GOOD GOD”, “GOD IS STILL MOVING”, “HE’S ALWAS THERE”, and “WAKE UP IN GLORY”. Pastor Hunter

released his first musical  project, a double album “GOD IS A GOOD GOD” in 1988, that was on the Gospel Billboard Magazine Chart for 29 weeks.

Having dedicated over 48 years of service to the music ministry, that was truly a ministry to him at heart. He served as Minister of Music at Howard Chapel Baptist Church, (New Albany, IN), Portland Memorial Baptist Church, (Louisville, KY), Canaan Christian Church, (Louisville, KY) and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church (Portland, OR).

On Tuesday, July 16th, GOD in HIS infinite wisdom called back to himself
