Neta Mangum Obituary

Neta La Reica Mangum was born in Portland, Oregon on December 22, 1960, to J.W. Mangum and Oma Lorraine Mangum Thompson. Neta was a very smart and loving child. She attended Jefferson high school but later received her GED, at the time of her passing she was attending Portland Community College in hopes of working in the mental health field. Neta loved her family and friends. She greeted everyone with the biggest smile and a “HEY BOO”.

Neta gave birth to her only daughter Iesha Lorraine Mangum December 27, 1979. She was later blessed with two grandchildren Jatasia (Tae) and Nae’Twan (Nae). She loved her grandkids with all of her heart. You could catch her making funny videos with Nae and taking many pictures with Tae. She was an amazing grandma. She would give her last to see them happy. She had a heart of gold. If you had the pleasure of being loved by Neta you were blessed. You could count on her to always keep it real with you. She simply had no filter and was loved dearly for those qualities.

Let’s not forget her unforgettable style. You could catch her on any given day with her 24 karat gold lipstick and matching eyeshadow. She had a diamond ring or two on every finger. Neta had the prettiest long black hair and smooth chocolate skin.

Neta touched the lives of many people. She volunteered at the Human Solution family shelter, Meals on Wheels, & she would donate clothes and hygiene items to families in need. She participated in the group Sisterhood and completed TREM (Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model).

Ms. Neta La Reica Mangum transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, March 22, 2019 in Portland Oregon. She is preceded by her mother, Oma Thompson. She leaves to love and cherish her memory, her dad J.W. Mangum; her daughter, Iesha L. Mangum; her granddaughters, Jatasia T. Winston, & Nae’Twan T. Brown; siblings, Serena Stoudamire Wesley (Don), Tammie Mangum Johnson (Henry), Simone Carter (Lawrence), Troy Mangum and Terrell Thompson (Dominica) all residing in Portland, Oregon; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and fans.
