Mary Marino Obituary

Mother Mary Helen “Henny” Landor Marino

Mary Helen Landor Marino was born on July 7, 1941 to Lorena Chargois and Paul Landor, Jr. in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was one of three children born to this union. She was educated in the public schools of Lafayette, Louisiana graduating from Paul Breaux High School in 1959.

In 1974 she moved to Portland, Oregon and was hired by Bess Kaiser Hospital  where she worked in a variety of capacities as a Team Leader from 1979-1992 and promoted to Supervisor in 1992 and remained in that position until she retired in 1999.

She was beloved by her family and enjoyed many different activities in life. She loved fishing, talking with friends, planting and nurturing the flowers on her patio, she loved to take walks in her neighborhood, loved her cats which she affectionately called her “children”, and she loved going to Church. In addition to being a member at Vancouver Avenue in regular attendance she served on the Mother’s Board, was an active member of the Church Prayer Conference Call Line, and a great encourager to many people and especially young people.

She was a regular consumer of “The Young & The Restless” and “The Price Is Right” TV shows so many of her friends and family members—even her cats—came  to know not to bother her by calling or knocking on her door when those shows were on.

In addition to this Mother Mary Helen had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and share fun times with those around her

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother, Lawrence “Larry” Landor and godchild and nephew, Clayton Landor. She leaves to mourn her passing: sisters, Mary Odelia Landor Arceneaux and Mary Louise Landor Jones (Curtis); two nephews, Chris Arceneaux and Minister Russell Landor I (Minister Monica); and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
