Mamie Jean Jones was born in Bastrop Louisiana on October 15, 1954 to Conglia Minnieweather and Minion Minnieweather Sr., Mamie was one of eight children.
Growing up Mamie was very kind and caring person. She had a huge heart and loved and cared tor everyone. She attended elementary school through High school in Bastrop, LA. In 1973 Mamie Carne to Portland, OR to visit family with her daughter and meet Edward Jones they got married five years later on February 20th, 1978. They had five
children: Lisa Minnieweather, Chenell Jones, Edward Jones Jr, (all of Portland, OR) Sherri Aranda( of Palmdale, CA) and Cherice Jones (of Denver, CO), Goddaughter Delicia Thompson (of
Atlanta, GA). Seventeen grandchildren, Quisha, TaRay, Kyjuan, DJ, Peaches, Marea, Varea, Alycia, Siseo, Bittle, MiMi, Emara, Kash, Emmeri, Emajana, TaeVe'on and CorDe' and seven great grandchildren, Z'Mier, Nah'Kiyah, Se'Maj, Aalinnah, Legend, Damoni and two on the way. Mamie attended PCC where she received her GED and also her
certification in carpentry. Mamie really enjoyed being around family and friends. She had a special bond with all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was known as Mom, grandma and GG.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Conglia Minnieweather, father Minion Minnieweather Sr., and husband Edward Jones Sr.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories her five children and seventeen grandchildren and seven great-children as well as her two god sisters, Shirley West and Gloria Nelson, three brothers, Minion Minnieweather, Arthur Minnieweather, Henry Minnieweather, three sisters Velma Wright, Terri Sonia and Karen Herrell, and a host of family and friends.
