Jovan Rangit Young was born in Vancouver, Washington to Johnny Evans and Marilyn Oliver. As a child, Jovan loved to dance. She also sang in the church choir, participated in ballet. She attended Grant High School and later on to Job Corps in Idaho, where she earned a Certification in Nursing, along with a diploma.
After graduating Job Corps, Jovan worked several jobs until landing her
career job with the phone company (then US West) in Portland , Oregon.
Jovan met Edwin Young in 1999 and later married in July of 2003.
They together raised 2 boys and 1 girl.
Jovan loved to travel and was into crafting, jewelry and also participated in voluntary work and a member of The Centennial School Board. Later in 2008, Jovan went on to further educate herself and enrolled in college, where she earned an Associate Degree, then transferring to Portland State
University earning a Master’s Degree in Urban Development in 2013.
While Jovan attended college, she worked a full-time job as Manager at Lukedorf, an Adult Care Facility until her graduation. After graduating,
Jovan landed her career as an Insurance loan processor. In her spare time she liked to travel, make jewelry and volunteer for Environmental causes as well as being a faithful church member.
Jovan was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Evans. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Oliver, of Portland, Oregon, Husband, Edwin Young, sons, Diallo Abbott and Cassius Thomas of Portland, Oregon. daughter, Denali Young of Portland, Oregon, brothers, Zachery Oliver of Portland, Oregon and LaRon Buriss of Seattle, Washington, sisters, Nailah Evans of Seattle Washington and Azizi Evans of Birmingham, Alabama.
