Jeff was born September 1, 1929 in the tiny town of Richland, Baker County, Oregon. He was the last of seven children and was known simply as "Jr." until at the age of 13, when he went to the courthouse and named himself Jeff (another story...).
Eager to spread his wings, Jeff enrolled at Eastern Oregon College in La Grande. Then off to Officers Candidate School and to an Army career that evolved from artillery to tanks to aviation. While in Korea, his flying skills were much appreciated by his Commanding Officer and he became the first choice pilot among the brass.
After the Army it was back to where he always called "God's Country". His many talents easily transitioned into a civilian life of manufacturing and sales management. First at Oregon Handling, then many years at Premier Manufacturing.
A very warm and gregarious gentleman, he devoted himself completely to a life of public service. He enjoyed decades in the Kiwanis Club (he was the undisputed king of every annual sales fundraiser). Always looking great in uniform, the Royal Rosarians was a passion where he rose to the Prime Minister's post in 1989.
Jeff is so fondly remembered and sorely missed by his wife Iris of 47 years, his children, Janet and Doug; grandson, Jeffrey; and great granddaughter, Ruby.
