Henry McGee Obituary

Henry Mae McGee was born December 16, 1920; to Violet and Henry Felton Canady in Fairfield, Texas. Henry was one of the 11 which was born to this union, whom have all preceded her in death.

Mother Henry Mae McGee attended school in Fairfield. At a very young age Henry accepted Christ as her personal savior. During this time in her life was when Mother Violet insisted on all her children going to church. She did not send her children they walked for miles to get there, it wasn’t about I’m not going (You went). However, it was okay with Henry because that is how she met Christ.

Later, in life she met the man in which she married Dave McGee Jr. and had two beautiful children Marva Jean born in Fairfield, Texas and Charles Royce McGee Aka: Eddie born in Portland, Oregon.

Henry moved to Oregon with her husband and daughter around 1944 where she established her family. She worked for a woman by the name of Mrs. Irvin until she passed away. Henry was so good to Mrs. Irvin that the family could not let her go, so she continued to work with the rest of her family, the Green’s for over 40 years. She became a part of their family; the Green’s never stopped loving or caring for her.

Mother Henry Mae McGee became a member of Guilds Lake Church under the leadership of Pastor Williams. She worked faithfully under him until his demise. During this time the church members were working on purchasing a new church and looking for a new pastor. The church was built and named after Pastor Williams. The new Pastor E.W. Rand was chosen, and mother stayed right there working diligently under him.

While attending she served faithfully on the Hospitality, Usher, Deaconess, and Mothers board. Mother Henry McGee never left the church through all of her
circumstances she held on to God.

Now the church is under new leadership and a new name: Pastor M.L. Walker, with the church name Walker Temple Church of God in Christ.

Mother has been with the same church family since moving to Oregon, she has seen people come and go, but it never crossed her mind to leave what God had brought her too.

Mother Henry Mae McGee left here a faithful member; as long as she could get to the house of God she did just that. And believe it when the first of the month came around she would call Deacon Alfred Larry to make sure that her tithes were together and picked up.
