Geraldine Hunter Obituary

Geraldine Taylor (Hunter) was born in Marshall, Texas on April 13, 1940 to Norma Lee Rider and Willie Taylor. She had one maternal sister, Johnnie Jewel and one paternal brother, John L. Taylor. She attended Potter's Creek Elementary School in Marshall, Texas.

Geraldine married Charles Lee Wilson Sr. and they moved to Portland, OR. with just two children, Luerine & Charles Jr.  They had four more children Melinda, Sam, Sherrie and Alonzo. She had one more, Sanoba.  Charles Lee had 5 other children of whom Geraldine called her bonus children and treated them as her own and they all called her "momma or momma Geraldine". A. D., Brenszelle (Deseased), Antwannetta, Altrenia and Robert all of Portland, OR.

After moving to Portland, Geraldine joined Neighborhood Church of God under the leadership of the late Rev. Archie Hunter. She was a faithful member under the leadership of his sons, Pastor Richard Hunter Sr. and Pastor Charles Hunter Sr. until she feel ill. Geraldine was the last living relative of her generation.

She was an all-out go-getter.  She loved to bowl, a proud fisherwoman given the title of "Ms. Soul skipper" because she could catch as many fish and handle a boat just like if not better than her counterparts. She loved the outdoors and loved to entertain and welcomed everyone into her home. Dominoes was her game and she would tell you as she was whooping you on the domino table "I wrote the book on dominoes!" She was a serious trash talker at the table, but she also backed it up.

Friday the 13th was her day! Most people say that was a bad luck day but not Geraldine, that was a day that she said was her day to win some money. She would call her grandson Ishmael that morning and plan their evening (he was her Friday the 13th gambling partner) and she would have him all over Portland and the surrounding areas playing video poker and she would win! She enjoyed life and didn't care who didn't like it.

Geraldine was preceded in death by both parents, paternal brother, maternal sister and bonus daughter. She leaves to cherish her memory and amazing life 5 sons, A. D. Wilson, Charles Wilson, Jr., Sam Wilson, Alonzo Wilson and Robert Wilson, 6 daughters, Luerine Jackson, Melinda Wilson, Sherrie Littleton(David), Antwannetta Brown, Altrenia Wilson  and Sanoba Hayes(Terrence) all of Portland, OR., 18 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren(2 more on the way), 1 Great-Great grandson and a host of relatives and friends.

She will be greatly missed!
