Emmitt Earl Warren, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Emmitt was born July 19, 1935 in Linden, Texas. He was the first of seven born to Emmitt George Henderson Warren and Oneida Warren. He was raised in the community of Pleasant Hill in Cass County, Texas, where he regularly attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He also attended Pleasant Hill Grade School where he enjoyed math and sports and placed second in the Texas state math competition.
The family moved to Portland, Oregon, in the fall of 1948. Emmitt attended Lincoln and Roosevelt High Schools. At Roosevelt, he was extremely talented in baseball and a key contributor to the team’s success in 1952 when they placed second in the state of Oregon.
On December 11, 1952, he married the love of his life, Elouis Alexander. To this union seven children were born: Erwin, Dale, Marlon, Quinten, Doreen, Janet and Janell. Emmitt was a loving husband and father who cared deeply for his family.
Emmitt was a dedicated worker. He began his career at the Multnomah Hotel and Esco Corporation. However, for the majority of his career he served as an Operating Engineer for Oregon Asphalt and Brix Paving Company.
Emmitt enjoyed life. He adored fishing, sports, and horseracing. Above all, he loved spending time with his friends, family and wife of sixty-six years.
He lived a life worthy of testimony before rededicating his life to the Lord and joining Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in 2002 where he was an active member of his life group and an avid Bible reader.
Emmitt was preceded in death by his father, Emmitt George Henderson Warren; mother, Oneida Warren; brother, George Warren, and grandson, Elijah Warren.
He is survived by his wife, Elouis Warren; siblings, Jeanette Allen (Autry Allen), Royce Warren (Peggy Warren), Eurlene Beasley, Raymond Warren, and James Warren; children, Erwin Warren (Deborah Warren), Dale Warren, Marlon Warren, Quinten Warren (Jemima Drummond), Doreen Scott (Curtis Scott), Janet Warren and Janell Ephraim (William Ephraim); grandchildren, Erwin Donta Warren, Regina Warren, Komar Warren, Shannon Warren, Robert Drummond, Jordan Scott, David Warren, Joshua Scott, William Isaiah Ephraim, Jadon Ephraim, Moriah Ephraim, Michaela Ephraim, and Maliyah Ephraim; great-grandchildren, Tahjamare Warren, Zharia Hale, Amari Hale, Ashon Hale, Isaiah Hale, Khali Warren, Robert Drummond, Tristan Drummond, Khavae Warren, and Khamiya Warren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
