Diana was born on September 7, 1957, in Portland, Oregon, to the Union of Nathaniel and Betty Martin. She was one of nine children.
Diana attended Humboldt Elementary School, Kellogg Middle School, and Lincoln High School, where she graduated at the tender, young age of 16 in 1973.
In August 1973, Diana married her high school sweetheart, Ray Roland Ross, Jr. and to that union had children Ray R. Ross, III., and Rachel Ross. In 1980, Diana had another son, Mario Carrillo.
Diana attended Mt. Hood Community College and got an Associate of Nursing degree. Diana also attended OHSU and got her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and then her Master of Community Health degree.
Diana worked at OHSU as a Senior Nurse for 25 years. In 2013, she retired from OHSU.
In June 1990, Diana married Cleodis Vann.
Diana was a long-standing, faithful member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She dedicated a lot of her free time to various committees and events.
Diana was a loving, kind, compassionate, generous person. She always was willing to help someone in need.
Family was vitally important to Diana, and she often fulfilled the needs and wishes of many without expecting anything in return.
Diana had many hobbies such as sewing, quilting, reading, cooking, skiing, and attending plays.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Nathaniel and Betty Martin; brother, Paul Johnson; sister, Maria Lockett; husband, Cleodis Vann; brother-in-law, Milton Lockett, Felix Higgins; niece Tamara Best; step-daughter, Tanisha Vann; and step-son Chris Vann.
Diana leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Ray R. Ross III. (Cam Cruse-Ross), and Mario Carrillo; daughter, Rachel Ross (Joseph); step-son, Don Vann; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; siblings, Donald Johnson (Diana), Elaine Higgins, Beverly Harvey (Chris), Vonnette Martin-Phillips (Maurice), Cathy Hollins, Carol Battles (Eric); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
