Christine M Williams

Christine M. Williams, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on May 1, 2018, at age 73 in Vancouver, Washington. She was born on March 19, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to parents Tobias and Odessa Williamson. At the time of her birth, her parents were living and working in Vanport, Oregon until its historical flooding in 1948. The family then moved to Portland, Oregon where Christine attended Boise-Elliott grade school and went on to complete her high school education at Jefferson High School. During her four years at Jefferson, she studied voice, sang in the choir, and learned piano under the direction of Mr. Merle Lots. She carried her music training over to directing and playing for her church, St. Paul Church of God in Christ (COGIC) and became the Minister of Music. She spent many years playing the organ for Ark of Safety COGIC and other churches in the Portland area. As a young woman she enjoyed working at the VA Hospital and OHSU and later retired from Bonneville Power Administration after many years of service.

Christine was a fun and adventurous person. She enjoyed traveling and liked to drive. Growing up, she was the one in the family that could raise the hood of a car, tinker with it and make it run.  Changing a tire was no problem. She loved watching movies and classic television shows, especially with family and friends. Her favorite shows were Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Perry Mason, and the Price is Right. She also loved counting money and collecting coins and two-dollar bills.  Christine had a wonderful sense of humor, a warm heart and a sharp, inquisitive mind. She was always quick to help and encourage others.

Christine enjoyed her life and cherished her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Tobias and Odessa Williamson and sisters, Bessie Briggs and Louise Parker. 

She is survived by her children, Crystal Schmidt (Timothy), April Wright (Ron Jr.), and Leon T. Limbrick; grandchildren, Christian, Akoya and Nicholas Wright; sister, Billie Brock; and nephews, Paul Brock, Richard Brock and Robert Briggs Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Maranatha Church in Portland, Oregon.
