Charles Lessley Ellis of Portland, Oregon, died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home.
Charles was born July 25, 1946 in Sugar Land, Texas to parents E. L. and Lola Ellis. He attended M. R. Wood school in Sugar Land, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Charles moved to Portland in the late 70’s and worked for the Oregon State Liquor Control Commission where he eventually retired of 29 years. He enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz, and attended many concerts. He not only doted on his grandchildren, he loved them very much and was very involved in their daily activities making sure he picked them up from school everyday.
Preceding him in death, mother, Lola Ellis; father, E. L. Ellis; siblings, Robert , Roland, Jackie, and Janet Ellis; sibling/niece, Helen Jackson.
Charles leaves to mourn his memory children, Jessica Chenell Ellis, Dexter Williams, and Keith Kuykendall; grandchildren, J'Nia Richards and Cleveland Nelson; siblings, Milton Ellis and Carolyn LaMaster and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
