Barbara Fay Jean Barber, affectionately known as Barb, was born August 5, 1952 in Portland, OR to the proud parents of Hazel and Inetta Murray.
Barb graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. Upon graduation, Barb attended cosmetology school. Although fashion was one of her passions, she also loved to serve her community which led her to work with special needs students through the Portland School District. Barb was also employed as a security guard at multiple sites in Multnomah County. She recently retired from Freightliner.
Barb was a strong, determined woman who silently fought her cancer battle with the weapons of prayer and faith. She was truly a wonderful woman of God who enjoyed putting on her Sunday’s best and going to worship God at Highland Christian Center under the leadership of Dr. W.G. Hardy Junior. Barb loved her husband and children intensely. She was a soft-spoken woman but had the demeanor and strength of a lioness. She was smart, compassionate and kind, but she would put you in your place if you ever stepped out of line. She carried herself with grace and elegance and could light up a room with her beautiful smile.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Inetta and Hazel Murray, her two brothers, Nicholas and Jerry Murray. She is survived by her husband, Ernest; her three sons, Dana, Jason and Jeremy; her four grandchildren, Samarea, Jason Junior, Antionette and Devonte; three great grandchildren, her brother
Stephen Murray and his wife Rhonda; her many nephews and nieces and a host of family and friends whom she loved.
