Andre Pennington

Andre DeRon Pennington was born August 25, 1970 to Sandra R. Slider (Menefee) and David Pennington Jr. in Portland Oregon. Andre was raised by Ronald and Sandra Slider. 

He attended Woodlawn Grade School, Harriett Tubman M.S. and Madison H.S. He went on to attend Mt. Hood Community College. Growing up, Andre spent several summers visiting his father and grandmother, Ms. Annie Sanders in East Chicago, IN. 

As a kid, Andre enjoyed tumbling at King, Swimming at the park, playing basketball with Mr.& Mrs. Walden, and playing little league baseball, which his dad (Ronald) often coached. Andre always took great pleasure in always having big fish tanks and raising fish. Andre was a true world traveler. He loved exploring different cities and meeting new people wherever he went. He loved vising the Oregon Coast and watching the ocean. For a brief time, he lived in Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, Las Vegas, NV and Honolulu, HI. Andre was a social butterfly. He loved talking to people and making friends. If he had your phone number or address he always made sure to stay in contact. He was always the life of the party and a true comedian at heart from the time he was baby. No one could tell a story or reenact a story like he could. He had the best jokes, and always knew how to make everyone in the room laugh until it hurt. 

Andre grew up attending Gethsemane C.O.G.I.C., pastored by his grandfather Rev. R. L. Menefee. Recently returning to Portland, Andre sought to change his life. He attended Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C., pastored by Rev. Percy Joe Mullen and worked as courier for Amazon.

Andre is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. R. Menefee, Mary L. Menefee; Annie Sanders, David Pennington Sr. and step-father Ronald D. Slider. 

He leaves to cherish his memories with: his mother Sandra R. Slider, father David Pennington, Jr. (East Chicago, IN), brother Jermaine Slider, sisters Felicia Slider and Latausha Branch (Kyrus); Children: Yanieke Jones (East Chicago, IN), Adrian Pennington, Jaquan Pennington (Joc’Crystal), Andre Pennington Jr., and Andrea Pennington (Miami, FL); 1 niece: Olivia Slider (Santa Clarita, CA); 15 grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
