Life Legacy

Frank Renard Lockett, better known as “Nard”, was born on December 13, 1958 to Suno and Herculene Minnieweather. He was the sixth child of eight children.

Nard was born and raised in Portland, Oregon where he attended Portland public schools and finished his education achieving his high school diploma and a certificate to be a personal trainer.

At an early age Nard became active in sports, playin g on youth baseball teams. His favorite hobbies were going to the movies, reading, playing cards, playing chess and dominoes. Nard was a man that stayed informed on current events of what was going on around the world. He was very passionate about sports and politics.

Nard had an amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh. His personality would brighten up a room. If there was a statement of his person credo it would read: “I’m better today than I was yesterday.”

On September 14, 1989, Nard married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Lewis. Together they shared 23 years of a trusting and loving marriage unlike no other. It doesn’t get any more perfect than that. Nard was a family man through and through and always made sure to put others first, especially the children. He was a great listener and was never one to judge.

He lived by the book and had a relationship with God. The type of person he was could never be measured—a heart of pure gold. You may have to sign a pay back letter, but he would help you always. He was always telling us to “keep it simple” and “kill them with kindness”.

Preceding him in death: his loving mother, Herculene Minnieweather; brothers Milton Lockett (Maria) and Geary Lockett (Diane); and sister Pamela Lockett.

His love continues to live on through his wife Gwendolyn; daughters, Cheyonna, Tasmiyah, Cashshay and Enajah; and sons, Brock, Jamal, and Christopher; grandchildren, Aamir, Kahleed, Naim, Kyhali, Alanna and Kassandra; sisters, Eula and Angela; brothers, Bradford Sr. (Marcella), and Herbert (Parlor); mother-in-law, Ethel (Mother Dearest) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
